Voetspore Guys are back….

After a gruelling 16 000km trip which took the best part of four months the Voetspore Team are back home. And so are the Amarok bakkies that took them on their trip in Africa.

So the next move is to take stock of what worked and what not. All three Amarok vehicles were fitted with CTEK Dual units to ensure that the auxiliary batteries stays fully charged.  And they did. The main equipment running off the auxiliary battery was the fridge carrying food supplies, compressor for tyre inflation and some LED lights for camping at night. All Dual units were rigged to use solar power for when the vehicles were stationary. The Dual unit then acts as a Regulator with built in MPPT function.

Johan Badenhorst and Francois Marais who have done more kilometres in Africa than what most of us will ever do in our lifetime. Now back at their exciting new Voetspore shop in Woodlands, Garsfontein, they have a chance to share their expert opinion and knowledge with visiting clients. One of the Amarok vehicles is displayed in their shop so clients can see exactly how these vehicles were fitted with accessories.

In all three vehicles the CTEK Dual was fitted in the rear of the vehicle to ensure maximum performance as these units have a temperature sensor that will reduce power to the auxiliary battery when it gets too hot. In African conditions, temperatures in the engine compartment easily reach over 100 degrees Celsius which will cause the CTEK Dual to shut down to protect the auxiliary battery.

As Francois put it, with the CTEK Dual they were sure of power replenishment in all auxiliary batteries before the night stop. For further battery maintenance the group was also issued with a CTEK 10A to repower starter batteries.

All is well that ends well. We trust the Voetspore Team will continue to use our product for future expeditions.
